Bonelli for Christmas for me please…

As usual, I escaped from all the festivities last Christmas holiday (sorry family!). This time I went to Spain with my friend Bas to photograph some small and big birds.

Spain is a great country with lots of possibilities for the nature photographer that  searches some peace and quiet in these overcelebrated days…

Back again at home since some days, and the car is packed again, ready to roll again. Just found some time to edit some of the pictures I took during a day in a Bonelli’s eagle hide in Catalonia, before taking off again. Typical for these wintertimes are thick fogs covering big areas, only to clear up, if your lucky, in the late warmer afternoon. It happened on that day in the hide, causing very variable backgrounds and moods. I did see the sun too that particular day, but the eagles were allready finished eating. But I’m glad the fog stayed long enough, it made the pictures stronger. Hope you like them too! What a fantastic bird, the looks they give are just intimidating, you are almost forced not to press the shutter release button.

Now need to find the time to catch up with the family…after my next trip that is…
